On October 28th and 29th, MMOW held its 2nd annual Blizzard Box Blitz. Partnering with community members like Second Harvest Heartland, General Mills, SUPERVALU, and Cub Cares Foundation as well as 29 Meals on Wheels programs, we assembled 8,200 meals to give out to clients around the metro area. These meals will be used by clients if bad winter weather keeps their usual noon-time meal from being delivered by our volunteers.

Each of our 4,100 clients received 2 meals, water, and information about emergency preparedness.

Thanks to our above mentioned partners as well as Sam's Club, LDI, UPS, Medtronic, RSP Architects,Lettuce Cater, Red Cross, Caribou and Costco

Meals on Wheels Working to Increase Seniors’ Access to Healthy Foods

A nutritious diet is important, particularly for seniors, to avoid illness, recover from injury and live longer lives. That’s why Metro Meals on Wheels has partnered with Minnesota’s Nutritious Food Coalition, a statewide effort to increase participation in the state’s Food Support, formerly Food Stamp, program.
