How do I or my organization become a member of MMOW?
How is Meals on Wheels organized in the Twin Cities metro area?
There are over 40 local Meals on Wheels programs that operate individually. The programs have divided the metro area geographically.
MMOW is an umbrella organization that helps our program members reach their goals as well as represent Meals on Wheels in the
Metro area as a whole.
How and when was MMOW created?
Local Meals on Wheels programs created MMOW in 1997 to have an advocate and an organization to represent the programs
on a larger scale, as well as provide services, materials, and resources for the local programs.
Does MMOW receive any government funding?
No. We rely primarily on individual donations and grants from foundations and corporations to fund our work.
Many local Meals on Wheels programs receive some funding from state and federal sources to help provide meals for individuals
who cannot afford them.

A nutritious diet is important, particularly for seniors, to avoid illness, recover from injury and live longer lives. That’s why Metro Meals on Wheels has partnered with Minnesota’s Nutritious Food Coalition, a statewide effort to increase participation in the state’s Food Support, formerly Food Stamp, program.
