Meals on Wheels delivers hot, meals over the lunch hour Monday through Friday to homebound, elderly and disabled individuals. These meals are delivered through over 50 local programs by volunteers delivery drivers.
Meals on Wheels focuses on helping our clients remain independent and in their homes through nutritious meals, daily safety checks, and friendly interaction where these things are not already present.
There are nearly 40 Meals on Wheels programs in the seven county Twin Cities metro area that are members of Metro Meals on Wheels. They each are their own non-profit, receive meals from a caterer, have their own board and serve their local area. Programs vary vastly from extremely small to as large as entire counties. Each has their own individuality but all care very much for their community, their clients and their volunteers!
We partner with other non-profits and companies that are oriented around hunger, the elderly, and independent living. For Example Second Harvest Heartland, General Mills, Store to Door, Land O’Lakes.
